The women of the Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble are joining forces with the international V-Day movement to bring you Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, a funny, provocative, and moving piece of theater aimed at raising awareness on issues of gender inequality and sexual violence. Based on real interviews with hundreds of women, The Vagina Monologues has been shocking and inspiring audiences for over twelve years and has been hailed as “the most important piece of political theater of the last decade” by The New York Times. The Ensemble’s production will be just one of over 5,400 V-Day events in over 140 countries around the globe during the 2011 V-Season (February through April), raising millions of dollars for local community organizations, dedicated to the single-minded goal of ending violence against women and girls.
